HI! I’m changing things up a bit on the pizza night series this week.
My pizza recipe for this week didn’t turn out quite how I wanted it to, and, since I won’t post a recipe here unless it’s perfect, I decided to seek out some great pizza recipes from around the blogosphere for you guys instead.
Since there are soooo many pizza recipes out there, I’m focusing on vegan pizzas this week. Vegan pizza — and vegan cheese, in particular — has come a long way in the past few years. There are a lot of different ways to make the cheese yourself, and there are just as many delicious varieties sold in stores. My favorite vegan cheeses are from Follow Your Heart, Chao, Kite Hill, and Treeline. Daiya is a popular brand, too. It’s not my favorite, but it works in a pinch and is more readily available at standard grocery stores than the other varieties. I also like to make my own cheese by fermenting tofu or blending some cashews or blanched almonds.
Anyway, here are three delicious plant-based pizza recipes for you to try this week!
+ The Minimalist Baker’s Simple Vegan Pizza
+ This Rawsome Vegan Life’s Three Cheese Vegan Pizza
+ Fettle Vegan’s (I don’t need chicken on my) Barbecue Pizza
If you feel like ordering in this week, the crust and sauce at Papa John’s are vegan. I order a Papa John’s pizza with no cheese from time to time and doctor it up at home.
Whole Foods also usually has a vegan variety at their pizza counter, and you can find Daiya brand pizzas in the frozen organics section at most grocery stores.
If you’re looking for a made-from-scratch pizza, check out some of my recipes here, here, and here. These recipes use dairy-based cheese, but you could easily swap them out for vegan cheese. One of them uses an egg, but you can swap that for a flax-egg, made by soaking a tablespoon of ground flax seed in a few tablespoons of warm water until the mixture thickens.
I hope you have a great, pizza-filled weekend!
